OLPH Confirmation Candidate Eligibility:
- Must be a Baptized Catholic and have received First Eucharist.
- Must have had the required religious education background of 8th grade.
- As a Candidate for Confirmation, students are to attend and practice their faith at weekend Mass and Holy Days of Obligation in the parish according to the guidelines of the program, in addition to attending their retreat and doing service projects. Guidelines will be provided by Father for signing in and visiting other Churches when away from home.
- Must attend all sessions and other spiritual activities required of the Confirmation Preparation Program. Some participation will be required of parents and sponsors in the sessions.
Any teen who is not a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and wants to be a candidate in the program must submit a letter of permission from their pastor besides meeting all the above requirements.
CONFIRMATION SPONSOR ELIGIBILITY:
- Person must be suitable for this role and have the intention of fulfilling it.
- Be not less than sixteen years of age
- Be a Catholic who has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
- Is not the father or mother of the person being confirmed.
- Is attending Mass on a regular basis and able to partake in receiving the Eucharist.
- If the sponsor is married, he/she must be in a valid marriage recognized by the Church.
- Ideally, one of the candidate’s baptismal sponsors would be selected, though not required.
- Only one sponsor is to be selected.
- Must complete sponsor form provided by OLPH and have their Pastor sign and use the church’s seal, and be returned by the deadline date.

Confirmation is when one receives the gifts of the Holy Spirit and essentially becomes an adult in the church.
Confirmation is the act of accepting one’s faith, and commiting to live a life of service to your faith and to God.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are: Wisdom, Fortitude (or Courage), Piety (or Love), Understanding, Knowledge, Counsel, and Fear of the Lord
It is with these gifts, that we can live a faithful life and commit ourselves to Christ and the love of Our Savior. With this sacrament, you choose to commit to your faith, you choose to love God, and you choose to practice your faith and live it to the best of your abilities. It is with this sacrament, that we can say that we are avatars of our faith and followers of our Lord, his Father, and the Holy Spirit.
