Welcome to the website of Our Lady of Perpetual Help church! We are a small church based in New Iberia, Louisiana. Our main goal is to spread our faith and profess our love for our religion, and our God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are led by our pastor, Father Garrett Savoie. He is assisted by our deacon, Deacon Durk Viator.
Our church has been serving this community for over 70 years. Through many priests, additions to facilities, and the ever-changing society, we have stood strong and willing to serve the community. We have remained one of the oldest operating and thriving churches in New Iberia. We thank you, for it is through your support that we can stay Our Lady of Perpetual Help church.
History
Our church was founded on October 1st, 1949, and it became the second church parish in the city of New Iberia. A discussion in November of 1947, lead to actual construction, which began in June of 1949. The project was spearheaded by Msgr. Wayne Richard, who became the first pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and celebrated the first mass at the new church on Christmas Day of 1949.
Patron Saint
The patron saint of our church is the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Holy Mother is the guiding image of commitments to one's faith and letting God be the leading light of our lives. She willingly accepted the challenge of being the mother of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It was through her acceptance of God's Will, that we can model our lives by following her example of acceptance. We can learn to imitate her devotion and be inspired to live a life that has been given to the hands of God, allowing him to guide us to eternal life with Him and his Son.
